Kruidnoten Recipe

This time a Dutch recipe: Kruidnoten, doesn't really translate well. Literally: Spicenuts... There are spices in them but they aren't nuts.
Anyway: they're like small crunchy cookies severed when Sinterklaas is in the country.

Preheat the oven to 170 Celsius.

Ingredients:
    • 250 grams of self-raising flour
    • 125 grams dark brown sugar
    • 4 teaspoons of gingerbread spices
    • pinch of salt
    • 100 grams of cold hard butter
    • 6 tablespoons of milk
Mix all the dry ingredients followed by the butter (cut into small pieces, simply makes it easier to kneed) and the milk. Kneed the dough until smooth.
On a baking sheets make small marble sized balls.

Leave sufficient room between the little balls, as they expand in the oven (as you can see in the photo). We didn't leave enough room...

Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Let cool, enjoy.
